Here are some wonderful products to add a little chic, a little shimmer, a little boost, a little sensuousness, a little glamour, and a little grooviness to escape the winter blahs.

Vernique

Your lips have to be irresistible don’t they?

Vernique liquid lip liner (bottle at left) is the answer for people who are "can’t draw a straight line"-challenged. The fine point holds just the right amount, and it’s so easy to apply that even the shakiest hand will be able to draw on perfect lips. The lip liner stays on for hours, doesn’t bleed, you don’t need a sharpener, and, of course, also functions as a lipstick. The lip liner comes in four excellent shades (more to come soon!). We chose Lola because it is a great toned-down sexy red that’s good for just about all skin colors. Plus, Lola used to be my nickname in high school! How’s that for a non-sequitur?

Vernique also makes a great sheer lip gloss (bottle at right), also with an excellent applicator, in Rose Teint -- a lovely, natural, luscious shade with just a whisp of glimmer. All the lip liner shades are designed to go perfectly with Rose Teint.

Hemp Works

Someone call Woody Harrelson! Here’s a line of products, all containing the goodness of hemp. Of course, everyone has heard about the multitudinous, and historic, uses for hemp. Now there is hemp beauty care. Environmentalist David Marks founded Hemp Works in 1993 as a mail order company, offering hemp fabric, clothing, paper and oil. Now, he has launched a line of skin care, bath and body, and aromatherapy products.

France Luxe

The solution for a bad hair night or day: Tortoise Shell hair accessories from France Luxe. Gorgeous, rich barrettes, combs, ponytail holders, hairsticks, and headbands (no Hillary-looking ones here!). France Luxe makes delights for one’s noggin in a variety of collections, from ultra-luxe -- with Swarovski crystal, to luxe-luxe: hand engraving, filigree, seed pearls, and rhinestones. The collection offers 16 unique shades and 6 patterns. We chose a lovely large barrette in Tortoise for that loose French knot effect, or for a ponytail.

Our other choice was a beautiful Tortoise headband with a black bakelite-like "stitching" effect on it.

jO2

jO2 says its Firming Lotion with Grapeseed Extract will give you an extra boost of nutrition, vitamins, herbs, and bioflavonoids that are all found in grapeseed extract, healing all that abuse you’ve given yourself.

jO2 is a new, therapeutic, oxygen-based skin care line from Jafri. Scientist Manzoor Jaffrey is its creator. He was also the brains behind such products as Remede, Murad, Ilona of Hungary, and Dermaclinic. Valeria

International model Valeria Mazza (remember the Guess ads?) has added Valeria Magic Shimmer Liquid Body Powder to her line of fragrances and bath and body products. Magic Shimmer has a youthful, floral fragrance, and a soft lavender color. The lotion transforms into a delicate powder that leaves subtle, shimmering highlights on your skin. There are apricot colored flecks in it, to give the skin a warm glow. It has just enough va va voom, and you can wear it even if you’re over 18. Available at Sephora and at www.valeriafragrance.com.

Infusion

Frances Loudas and her daughter Kelly have designed some special new scents: Strawberry Delight (not shown), Vanilla Icing, Ocean Mist, Georgia Peach (and we’re not talking Marla Maples!), White Musk (this musk scent is the best we’ve ever tried – just perfect!)
