Grantley McIntyre

Grantley McIntyre has created makeup for many Fashion Finds shoots.  We adore his keen ability to match skin tones exactly, have it look completely natural, and give the skin a fresh, beautiful dewy look.

Grantley's philosophy is visionary: he gets his ideas from things he sees, current trends, and anticipating future trends. He then mixes all that with his creativity and applies it. His aim is to always deliver a feeling of clean, polished work.

When Grantley approaches his subject, whatever the assignment, the first thing he sees is skin hue. He asks himself, "What material do I have to work with this person, and what can I make of what I see?" He immediately tries to sense a feeling from his subject, the energy coming from that person, their sense of personal style.

Grantley was born in Kingston, Jamaica and came to New York City in the early 80's. After a brief foray in the commercial banking world, he threw himself into the "mad night-life of New York." He always loved doing makeup, so he started training, first at Christine Valmy and then Vidal Sassoon.

Highlights from Grantley's extensive and impressive resume are:

Television: NBC and CNN

Theater: The Lion King (makeup for lead performers), Rent, Smokey Joe's Cafe

Stage: Divas on Broadway, Riverdance, Burt Bacharach, Showtime at the Apollo, San Francisco Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet

Salon: Vidal Sassoon, Henri Bendel (Bobbie Brown Essentials)

Magazines: Vibe, Paper, Source, Direct Wire

Fashion Shows: Thierry Mugler

Commercials: Sears
