Crystal Siemens: For fall it’s all black, gray and silver.

Backstage, Crystal prepares models.	The show is staged in a vacant lot in Toronto.
The runway is demarcated.	Then, of course, makeup and final touches.

FF: And silver metallic or more low key than that? Silver sparkly or ...

Crystal Siemens: Well, it’s more subdued. What we’ve done is used a lot of more felted fabrics without lining. It’s very raw. A lot of cut edges which you’ve seen out there in the marketplace a bit. But the silhouettes are along the same lines as spring, but fall is a little bit more sculptural.

So for example, we’ve got this long coat that has no lining, and it’s just felted wool and it’s quite heavy and it’s great. And it just -- it goes around the body and it just envelopes the body. And it’s like a big cocoon. And for fall that’s a lot of the shape. It’s not that they’re rounded and balloon-like, but they’re kind of cocooney in a way. And that they are very secure and comforting to the wearer.
