Upon approaching people, most were quite surprised that someone thought their fashion worthy of comment, obviously having not tried to compose a distinct "look," which I found a refreshing break from such look-crazed concerns of other cities. However, I also felt a little bored at seeing too much of the same, and noticed that this quality, this ability to blend in, kept many people from standing on their own in terms of style. This made me a bit downcast, and I wished that people were inspired to use fashion more as a means to express themselves. I wanted to shout out "COLOR! This is not New York! Or the dead of winter!" Of course, I refrained from doing so, and instead heartily flattered people who seemed to have their own sense of style instead of a look which replicated a certain store, type, or brand name.
